What is Levitra?

Levitra is a drug effective for men's sexual dysfunction treatment. Levitra acts by increasing the blood flow to certain areas of the body.

What is the most important information I should know about Levitra?

Do not take Levitra in case you are using medications for heart problems or chest pain treatment, namely nitroglycerin (Nitro-Bid, Nitrolingual, Nitrostat, Nitro-Dur), dinitrate (Dilatrate-SR, Isordil, Sorbitrate) and isosorbide mononitrate (Monoket, ISMO, Imdur). Besides medications known as 'recreational' ('poppers') shouldn't be mixed with Levitra as well, because they contain nitrates. The combination of Levitra with nitrates is likely to cause a heart attack, stroke or fainting and to decrease blood pressure.

If you are having sex and notice such conditions as tingling in your chest, neck, arms and jaw; pain or numbness; dizziness; or nausea, you should contact your doctor right away.

If you experience an erection that lasts 4 hours and more (priapism), you should seek immediate medical attention. Do not procrastinate, as this condition can be very harmful for your penis.

People who smoke, have a history of vision problems, have high cholesterol level, diabetes, heart disease, high blood pressure, or are 50 years old and more, may experience sudden vision loss while taking Levitra. The reason is that the drug may impact the optic nerve of the eye, decreasing the blood flow to it. Seek medical help if you notice such a symptom.

If you are allergic to any drug, have a history of hear attack or stroke, were recommended to give up sexual activity because of poor health, suffer from heart disease, a bleeding disorder, blood cell disorder, stomach ulcer, kidney disease, liver disease, Peyronie's disease, retinitis pigmentosa, congestive heart failure, heart rhythm problems, too high or too low blood pressure or coronary artery disease, you should consult with your doctor before starting treatment with Levitra.

FDA pregnancy category B. Levitra isn't expected to have a negative effect on a fetus. It is unknown if the drug appears in breast milk, so consult with your doctor if you are breastfeeding a baby.

How should I take Levitra?

Levitra should be taken from 16 to 30 minutes to 1 hour before sexual activity. Use Levitra only one time a day. To achieve erection using Levitra, sexual stimulation is required.

Levitra has to be stored at room temperature. Keep the drug away from heat and moisture.

What happens if I miss a dose?

Generally Levitra is used when needed only, that is why you are unlikely to miss a dose.

What happens if I overdose?

If overdosage is suspected you should seek emergency medical help. The most widespread symptoms include irregular heartbeat, nausea, chest pain and feeling lightheaded.
