Lamisil oral
Uses
Lamisil Oral is used to treat onychomycosis, or fungal infections of the toe nails and finger nails. This anti fungal medication works to halt the growth of fungus.
Dosage
Lamisil Oral comes in the form of a tablet to be taken orally. In the case of a finger nail fungus, use once a day for six weeks, and in the case of a toe nail fungal infection, use once a day for 12 weeks. Do not take more than the dosage that has been prescribed by your doctor, and do not take for longer periods of time. You may begin to notice the effects of this medication only a few months after you finish the dosage schedule.
Warnings
If you are allergic to any of the ingredients in Lamisil Oral, don’t take the medication without first consulting your doctor. If you have a history of liver disease, kidney disease, problems with your circulatory system, blood problems, or immunity disorders, consult your doctor before taking Lamisil Oral. Your doctor may have to alter your dosage schedule or monitor your dosage after taking into account your health history. As a pregnancy category B drug of the FDA, Lamisil Oral has not been found to be harmful to the unborn fetus. However, consult your doctor before starting this medication if you are pregnant. It has been found to pass through breast milk to the infant, and if you’re nursing, avoid taking the medication until you have consulted your doctor.
Missed Dosage
Take Lamisil Oral exactly as prescribed by your doctor. If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember. If the time is too close to the next dose, skip the tablet, and move on to the next dose. Never double up your dosage to make up for the missed tablet.
Side effects
Some people experience some nausea or stomach upset, diarrhea, heartburn, flatulence, headache, temporary loss of taste, or headache. If you experience these, continue to take Lamisil Oral, and inform your doctor about these side effects. More severe side effects include allergic reactions like breathing difficulty, throat constrictions, swelling of your tongue, lips or face, hives, rashes, vision changes, or blood problems. If you notice severe abdominal pain, nausea, itching vomiting, fatigue, yellowing of skin or eyes, loss of appetite, dark colored urine, or clay colored stools, notify your doctor immediately. These may be the symptoms of liver disease. In very rare instances, Lamisil Oral has been found to cause fatal liver disease, leading to necessity for a liver transplant, or even death.
Storage
Lamisil Oral should be stored at a temperature below 77 degrees Fahrenheit. Keep in a tightly closed container away from light.
Overdose
Symptoms of overdose include headache, abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, dizziness, rash and frequent urination. If you notice these, seek emergency medical attention.
