Buspar
Uses
Buspar is a medication used to treat mild to moderate conditions of generalized anxiety disorder. This medication affects the chemicals in the brains that are responsible for causing the anxiety, and alters the chemical balance to relieve these symptoms.
Dosage
Buspar is to be taken with food or milk, and should be taken exactly as prescribed. Do not increase or alter the dosage that has been prescribed to you. The medication begins to show effect within 7 to 10 days, although 3 to 4 weeks may have to pass before the complete benefits of Buspar are seen.
Warnings
If you are allergic to any drugs, or have a history of liver or kidney disease, inform your doctor before taking Buspar. The dizziness effects of Buspar may be intensified by the consumption of alcohol, so avoid or limit your intake of alcohol while taking Buspar. Activities like driving, or handling heavy machinery that require increased alertness may be affected by the use of Buspar, so exercise discretion. If you're pregnant, consult your doctor before taking the medication. Also, consult your physician before taking Buspar if you’re breast feeding.
Missed Dosage
Make sure that you take the dosage as scheduled. If you miss a dose, simply skip it altogether, and move on to the next dose. Resume your normal dosage as scheduled. Never take a double dose to make up for the missed dose.
Side effects
Side effects may include drowsiness, dizziness, lightheadedness, fatigue and weakness, sleeplessness or vivid dreams, dryness of the skin, change in your sense of taste and smell, blurred vision, muscle aches, weight gain, nausea, ringing in the ears, and headaches. More intense side effects may include facial or neck twitching, tremors, depression, in co-ordination, confusion, difficulty in breathing and chest pain.
Storage
Use your medication before the expiry date. While in use, keep the medication in a tightly closed container, and away from children. Keep in a cool and dry place.
Overdose
If you experience nausea, dizziness, sleepiness or other symptoms of an over dosage, please seek emergency medical care, or contact your nearest poison control center immediately.
